About this role:

We are seeking a skilled Registration Representative to join our team in Bangor, ME. This full-time position (36 hours/week) involves inputting patient information received in person or over the phone, updating the hospital system for patient demographic, insurance, financial obligation, or appointment-related data for various practice and hospital services.

This role requires excellent customer service skills, as you will be the first point of contact upon patient arrival. You will also be responsible for providing patients with financial responsibility information, collecting patient liabilities, documenting amounts in the appropriate fields, and balancing the cash box daily.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet visitors and patients in person, or communicate by telephone or video conferencing, upholding excellent customer service
  • Enter and update patient demographic and financial information, ensuring the patient is fully registered as early in the process as possible
  • Obtain appropriate applications and forms, confirming signatures are on file, photocopy/scanning documents as needed
  • Provide patients with financial responsibility information and collect patient liabilities, document amounts in the appropriate fields, and balance the cash box daily
  • Work with partnering departments (Financial Counseling, Scheduling, Financial Clearance, and clinical areas) to ensure all aspects of the patient's encounter are completed as needed
  • Provide wayfinding instructions and assist with hospital information as requested
  • Coordinate patient admission needs, bed assignments, and tracking boards where applicable
  • Meet or exceed audit accuracy standards, work through worklists and error reports timely, and proactively seek assistance to resolve as needed
  • Maintain a safe environment complying with NLH policies and procedures; report and directly address environmental hazards and violations of patient safety policy and/or protocol when involved or observed
  • May perform other duties upon request

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 6+ months of experience in an office setting, customer service setting (over the phone OR face-to-face), phone support role, or call center environment
  • Begunner level of proficiency with Windows applications
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Ability to work any full-time (36 hours/week) variable schedule including the flexibility to work a mixture of days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and rotating holidays supporting our 24/7 operations based on business need
  • Influenza vaccination for the current flu season (typically August-May) or commitment to receive the influenza vaccination when available for the upcoming flu season
