An exciting opportunity awaits at Mainroad East Kootenay Contracting LP for a Journeyman Mechanic specializing in heavy equipment. This position is based out of our Fairmont yard, where the mechanic will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of company vehicles and machinery in a mobile capacity.

This is a unionized role, with all benefits and terms outlined in the Collective Agreement.

Qualifications:
- A valid B.C. Certificate of Qualification or Interprovincial Ticket as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic, Commercial Transport, or Truck & Transport Mechanic is essential.
- A valid class 3 driver's license with air endorsement is mandatory.
- Certification in Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement (CVSE) Inspection is advantageous.
- A minimum of three years of experience as a Mechanic is required.
- Experience with highway maintenance and/or municipal equipment is beneficial.
- Welding skills are considered an asset.
- A positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team are crucial.
- Capability to perform physically demanding tasks is necessary.
- Willingness to work in challenging weather conditions is expected.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
- A commitment to safety is paramount.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting various repairs on a fleet of road maintenance equipment, including graders, loaders, pickups, tandem highway trucks, and backhoes.
- Completing, documenting, and reporting all necessary repairs, maintenance, or cleaning tasks.
