Key Responsibilities- Carry out patient care plans as directed by a registered nurse.
- Provide patient physical care, including bed baths, toileting, grooming, and changing bed linen, according to established guidelines.
- Perform patient monitoring activities, such as vital signs and blood glucose, according to established guidelines.
- Prepare patients for meals and assist with feeding as needed.
- Perform patient rounds regularly and respond promptly to call lights to meet patients' needs.
- Document patient care in a timely manner, adhering to established standards.
- Organize patient rooms to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Collect and label specimens according to established procedures.
- Provide mentoring and teaching to new nursing assistants to meet performance expectations.
- High school diploma or equivalent required, unless candidate holds a nursing assistant certification.
- Recent experience and/or training in clinical patient care.
- Preferred qualifications include enrollment in a nursing, pre-med, or physician assistant undergraduate program, with a minimum of one semester of completed patient care rotations at the time of hire, or possession of a valid license, certification, or enrollment as a student in a nursing assistant, medical assistant, mental health technician, or EMT-accredited program at the time of hire.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
- Basic skills in math and computer science.
- Ability to perform, modify, and record all physical therapy skills with relevance to appropriate thoroughness and sequencing.
- Healthcare Provider CPR certification required.
- Knowledge of DPH/OEMS regulations.
