Salary: Up to $90K annually (commensurate with experience)

Qualifications:
  • Must possess a valid Registered Nurse license in Iowa
  • Preferred educational background includes an Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing institution
  • Experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, assisted living, or memory care environments is advantageous
  • Prior experience with MDS is preferred; familiarity with Quality Indicator processes, OBRA regulations, and Minimum Data Set is beneficial
  • Strong understanding of Case-Mix, Federal Medicare PPS, and Medicaid reimbursement is highly desirable
  • Minimum of two years in a supervisory nursing role is preferred
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential

Job Overview:


The Nursing Services Supervisor/MDS Specialist is responsible for supporting the 24-hour oversight of Nursing Services and leading the Nursing Department to uphold quality care standards in alignment with current Federal, State, and company regulations.


Key MDS responsibilities may involve preparing and electronically submitting timely reports to the national Medicare and Medicaid database.


Ensuring the precision of medical records and coding practices is crucial for the facility to secure appropriate reimbursement.


As a resident rights advocate, you will ensure that each resident is informed of their legal rights.


Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations is required.


Responsibilities also include creating and maintaining personalized service plans for all residents based on assessments and service reviews.


Ongoing communication regarding resident needs, progress, and care challenges with physicians and supervisors is essential.


Assist in overseeing nursing staff within the facility, ensuring adequate staffing levels and that staff competencies are up to date.


Monitor nursing employee conduct and maintain awareness of incidents occurring within the facility.
