About the Role

Rakhere Technologies is seeking a highly skilled Assembly Pre-Production Engineer to join our team in the automotive or heavy commercial vehicle domain. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for setting up assembly lines for new truck introductions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Creating and maintaining assembly instructions by connecting BSLs (Basic Structure Lines) to core Instruction 250 BSL/week
  • Preparing 5-10 assembly aids/week
  • Performing time studies for new processes using MCTM (Methods Calculate Time Montage) standards
  • Identifying tooling and equipment needs based on new product changes and processes
  • Initiating TER and designing solutions with Volvo T&E Engineers
  • Industrializing new tooling, equipment, fixtures, and lifting hooks
  • Working with operations, logistics, and quality functions to support production with a zero-downtime mindset
  • Determining assembly sequences, time standards, and line balancing
  • Defining part locations and developing station designs
  • Identifying maintenance needs, issuing work requests, and following up
  • Identifying kit cart needs, issuing work order requests, and following up
  • Identifying and correcting Bill of Material and assembly instruction issues
  • Analyzing and recommending manufacturing processes, equipment, gauging, and tooling towards zero defects
  • Identifying product and process issues in assembly processes and resolving them using problem-solving tools and methods
  • Participating in cross-functional meetings and engineering networks to contribute to and roll out manufacturing engineering activities and responsibilities
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, preferably in the automotive or heavy commercial vehicle industry
  • Knowledge of engineering concepts, manufacturing, products, production standards, and efficiency optimization tools; process-oriented
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to take a well-ordered approach to solving problems and acting despite obstacles, resistance, or ambiguity
  • Strong analytical skills and a demonstrated focus on process and Lean Manufacturing concepts
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage change
  • Proven ability to react to issues impacting production with a sense of urgency, promptly assessing the issue and developing a feasible action plan and following it through to successful completion
  • Experience in a team-based environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills, with proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Specific software knowledge requirements include AutoCAD and Catia/Creo
