Your Role

Position Overview:

The Senior Hospital Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting professional and technical nursing staff by performing a variety of tasks directly related to patient care. Key responsibilities include monitoring and documenting vital signs, assisting patients with personal hygiene and elimination needs, and ensuring a clean and safe environment within the unit. Additional duties involve restocking unit supplies, operating hospital equipment as instructed, performing routine clerical tasks, and assisting with other related responsibilities as needed.

Essential Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with basic medical terminology.
  • Nursing Assistants employed prior to May 2010 who lack certification as a Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) are currently exempt from obtaining it.
  • Availability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking effectively in English.
  • Must hold certification as a Nursing Assistant, be a Licensed Vocational Nurse, or be enrolled in an accredited nursing program with completion of at least one clinical semester.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a therapeutic manner.
  • Demonstrated experience in patient care, preferably in an acute care environment.
Licenses and Certifications:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
