Job Description

Amara is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kinship Care Specialist to join our team in Seattle. As a key member of our Kinship Services program, you will play a vital role in supporting kinship families in King County.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide wraparound supports to kinship families, including assessment, case management, and placement support.
  • Assist kinship families in completing the foster care licensure process with DCYF, connecting them with resources and identifying and addressing barriers.
  • Ensure the physical, emotional, and social needs of children placed in Amara-supported kinship homes are met.
  • Liaise with multiple professionals in the child welfare arena, including DCYF workers, CASAs, and service providers.
  • Facilitate kinship workshops and support groups, promoting shared principles and trauma-informed care.
  • Provide basic supports to parents of youth placed in kinship homes, connecting them to local resources and services.
  • Meet requirements for timely, accurate, and thorough documentation for case files.
  • Make referrals for community services as needed and attend staff meetings and trainings.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in social services, human services, or a related field, with two years of paid social service experience or a master's degree with one year of experience.
  • Knowledge of child development and family systems, with strong communication skills and the ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, discretion, maturity, flexibility, and independent judgment, with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Lived experience with the child welfare system is highly preferred, as is the ability to effectively communicate with Spanish-speaking families.

  • A competitive salary range of $57,000-$69,999, depending on experience.
