Solar Repair Technician Job Description

At Purelight Power, we are seeking a skilled Solar Repair Technician to join our team. As a key member of our solar installation team, you will be responsible for repairing and maintaining roof and ground-mounted solar systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in loading and unloading company vehicles with solar equipment and materials.
  • Install, repair, and maintain rooftop and ground-mount solar PV systems, including flashing, racking, module-level power electronics, array wiring, and junction boxes.
  • Work on roofs, ladders, crawlspaces, attics, and other residential and commercial areas, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Pull materials accurately based on construction plans and specifications.
  • Fill in for the Lead Installer when needed, demonstrating leadership and teamwork skills.
  • Develop a basic understanding of testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting system components.
  • Follow technical installation instructions and schematics to ensure high-quality workmanship.
  • Navigate through our work platform, CRM, and other applications to access relevant information and tools.
  • Maintain a clean job site and work truck, adhering to company standards and safety protocols.
  • Work in a fast-paced, demanding environment, interacting with clients in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Perform other related duties as required, including obtaining necessary certifications and training.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Be comfortable climbing ladders and working on roofs, with a willingness to learn and adapt to new situations.
  • Be comfortable working outside in various weather conditions, with a focus on safety and efficiency.
  • Develop good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Have a strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail, with a focus on quality workmanship.
  • Be able to lift up to 50 lbs repetitively, with the ability to climb ladders and work on roofs up to a 45-degree pitch.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Basic understanding of hand and power tools, with the ability to use them safely and effectively.
  • Basic understanding of common solar installation practices, with a focus on safety and efficiency.
  • Clean driving record and driver's license, with the ability to operate company vehicles safely.

Compensation: $20-$24 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
