Job Summary

The Oroville Hospital is seeking a skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our team in the Hospitalist Services department. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and coordinate direct patient services under the supervision of a state-approved physician.

Responsibilities
  • Examine patients, take medical histories, and record results to make preliminary diagnoses or decide on follow-up procedures.
  • Administer or order diagnostic tests, such as X-rays, electrocardiograms, blood work, and interpret test results.
  • Perform therapeutic procedures, such as immunizations, injections, suturing, and wound care, and manage infections.
  • Exercise professional judgment regarding consultation with supervising physicians concerning appropriate treatment.
  • Develop and implement patient care plans, instruct and counsel patients, and record progress.
  • Prescribe medications to the extent allowable by state guidelines and clinic regulations.
  • Provide general health education regarding matters such as proper diet, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.
  • Assist physicians as required for emergency treatment and more complex procedures.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program.
  • Current California Nurse Practitioner License required.
  • Current American Heart Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.
  • Current ACLS.
  • Credentialed through Oroville Hospital Medical Staff office required.
  • Completion of crisis prevention training required.
  • Recent or previous work experience in an acute care setting preferred.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Ability to maintain sensitivity and objectivity to patients, family, and significant others of all ages.
  • Demonstrates reliability and flexibility with work schedule.
  • Must be able to interact professionally and effectively communicate with physicians, staff, patients, and the public.
  • Must have the ability to organize and prioritize work efficiently.
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while remaining calm, efficient, and focused.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Must have the ability to perform as a preceptor in the training of students and new employees, and the ability to act as a department resource and a positive role model.
Work Environment

The work environment is well-lit and ventilated. Regularly exposed to the risks of blood-borne and airborne diseases. Contact with patients in a wide variety of circumstances. Exposed to noise, chemicals, communicable diseases, and hazardous materials. Wears personal protective equipment as required.
