Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Per Diem Psychiatrist to join our team at Yale New Haven Health. As a Per Diem Psychiatrist, you will provide direct and consulting care to in-patients and out-patients, ensuring compliance with regulatory agency requirements and reviewing clinical staff performance to ensure quality of care and efficient use of resources.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct and consulting care to in-patients and out-patients.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory agency requirements.
  • Review clinical staff performance to ensure quality of care and efficient use of resources.
  • Maintain clinical activity by full participation in departmental clinical workload.
  • Participate in medical staff leadership activities, especially respiratory care and intensive care.
  • Prepare for, attend, and participate in team meetings and daily huddles.
  • Collaborate in developing team priorities, patient goals, and care plans.
  • Keep problem lists, medication lists, and patient care plans updated for team members.
  • Approve orders and referrals for health maintenance.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • MD or MBBS degree.
  • Completion of an accredited medicine residency program and pulmonary fellowship program.
  • Board certification in both medicine and pulmonary medicine.
  • Completion of the above educational programs.
  • Licensed to practice medicine in the state of CT.
  • ABIM certification.
  • Demonstrated aptitude and interest in educating medical students, residents, and fellows.
Physical Demands

This role requires:

  • Standing, walking, and sitting for most of the day.
  • Working with lightweight equipment.
  • May be exposed to infectious diseases in the setting of caring for sick patients.

Please note that MMR, Varivax (chicken pox vaccine), or evidence of prior chicken pox, Hepatitis B (or signed declination), Tdap, and influenza vaccination are required for this role.
