Role Overview:


The IT Procurement Strategy Lead is responsible for ensuring optimal expenditure and value realization for designated categories of goods and services.

This role requires a deep understanding of internal stakeholders' requirements related to the assigned categories. Additionally, it involves analyzing market capabilities, dynamics, and competitive factors affecting supply markets.

Utilizing a structured Category Management methodology, this position will spearhead the formulation and implementation of coherent strategies for expenditure, pricing, and vendor selection aimed at maximizing value and achieving significant savings.

The IT Procurement Strategy Lead will oversee sourcing initiatives for Professional Services Categories, particularly focusing on Human Resources and IT Services.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and manage a designated spend area within the indirect procurement domain, encompassing both regional and national activities.
  • Direct sourcing efforts for Professional Services Categories, emphasizing HR and IT Services.
  • Analyze data and collaborate with internal partners to uncover opportunities, gather functional and technical requirements, and develop strategies and business cases that align with market approaches (RFx's).
  • Negotiate contracts in the assigned indirect categories, including (BOMs, SOW, Ordering Document, EULA, MSA).
  • Cultivate relationships with internal business partners and key suppliers, negotiating favorable contract terms to mitigate risks and lower total ownership costs across Business Units.
  • Engage with all management levels, including senior executives from various businesses and suppliers.
  • Participate in quarterly evaluations, monitor service levels, establish reporting parameters, oversee programming needs, analyze travel reports, and contribute to regular communication sessions. Set guidelines for prompt issue resolution and assess savings opportunities.
  • Collect and accurately document savings data in alignment with company objectives. Maintain the Procurement Savings Tracker for the travel category.
  • Implement and utilize the Category Management cross-functional process to deliver procurement strategies for each category and sub-category, which includes:
o Communication planning and execution with targeted stakeholders
o Assessment of strategic and tactical options
o Consensus building among cross-functional teams

  • Continuously assess risks, threats, and opportunities in the global materials marketplace; recommend and facilitate changes as necessary.
  • Stay informed and engaged in the comprehensive scope of Corporate Procurement activities.
  • Challenge existing processes to pursue opportunities for cost reduction, value enhancement, and the application of lean methodologies.
  • Maintain awareness of spending patterns and organizational behaviors within the assigned spend area.
POSITION CONTEXT

  • Reports to the Director of Corporate Procurement.
  • This role is a vital member of the Corporate Procurement team, expected to contribute significantly to the enhancement of processes and capabilities within the Procurement function.
  • Requires a high degree of judgment and independent decision-making; moderate strategy formulation within specific categories.
  • Management responsibilities include organizing, delegating, measuring, monitoring, guiding, coaching, and evaluating.
  • Internally interacts with senior and functional management and a broad array of stakeholders across the organization. Interactions involve influencing, receiving and assessing input, conflict resolution, consensus-building, and providing direction to team members.
  • Externally interacts with current and potential vendors, involving negotiation, collaboration, and providing guidance and feedback as the organization's representative to the vendor community.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 5 years of procurement experience in a sophisticated sourcing environment, particularly in Professional Services Categories focusing on Human Resources and Technology.
  • Proven skills in executive stakeholder management and influence.
  • Strong proficiency in all phases of the sourcing lifecycle (from market analysis to procure-to-pay), especially in negotiating contractual agreements. Demonstrated success in complex deal structuring, negotiations, and contracting.
  • Ability to manage large-scale, time-sensitive vendor negotiations.
  • Experience in category sourcing within a large, national organization is essential. Background in a large, diverse corporation is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred.
  • Strong team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in project management methodologies.
  • Familiarity with spend analytics tools is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather, analyze, and draw insights from quantitative data.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; ability to communicate and engage at all organizational levels and build high-quality professional relationships.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with formal Category Management approaches to Procurement is desirable.
