Job Summary

The University of Maryland Medical System seeks a highly skilled Security Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of the Security Department. This key role will be responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate safety and security programs to reduce risk to patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Lead Workplace Violence initiatives and serve as a liaison with other hospital leaders and local law enforcement.
  • Manage the Security Department's day-to-day operations and workflows, including developing and reviewing policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Facilities to prepare and monitor the security budget.
  • Conduct Security Hazard Risk Assessments (HVA's) at the hospital and off-site buildings annually.
Requirements
  • Four to six years of experience as a supervisory security officer or law enforcement officer.
  • Previous management experience is required.
  • Experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Life Safety and Joint Commission of Healthcare Accreditation is preferred.
Additional Information
  • Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) Workplace violence training/certification within the first 3 months of hire.
  • International Association of Healthcare Security Services (IAHSS) Basic Course training/certification within the first 3 months of hire.
  • IAHSS Workplace Violence Prevention Program Certification within the first 3 months of hire.
