Role Summary
We are looking for a skilled engineer with approximately 10 years of experience to become an integral part of our system engineering team, focusing on modem systems features and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with RF and modem teams (hardware/software) on Automatic Gain Control (AGC) development and RF modeling tasks.
- Develop AGC algorithms, perform modeling, and assist in system bring-up.
- Create RF models for link-level simulations, analyze results, and provide recommendations for optimization and mitigation strategies.
Essential Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of communication system principles and signal processing techniques.
- Familiarity with RF systems, RF impairment modeling, and mitigation strategies (including phase noise, IQ imbalance, DC offset, etc.), as well as digital RF front-end design.
- Understanding of cellular communication standards such as 5G NR FR1/FR2, 4G LTE, 3G (HSPA), and 2G GSM.
- Experience with AGC systems for LTE/NR is advantageous.
- Proficiency in analog and digital beamforming techniques and MIMO systems.
- Competence in Matlab, C/C++, and/or Python for algorithm development, modeling (both floating-point and fixed-point), and link-level simulation.
- Strong analytical capabilities in areas such as linear algebra, random processes, and detection and estimation.
- Experience in chip bring-up and familiarity with laboratory equipment such as protocol test equipment, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and power meters is a plus.
- Practical experience in laboratory testing and characterization is beneficial.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
A Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of relevant experience is required.
Compensation & Benefits
At Apple, base salary is just one aspect of our comprehensive compensation package, which is determined within a specified range. This allows for growth as you advance in your role. The salary range for this position is between $166,600 and $296,300, depending on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees can also participate in discretionary employee stock programs, with opportunities for restricted stock unit awards and discounted stock purchases through the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Additional benefits include comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement plans, discounts on products and services, and reimbursement for educational expenses related to career advancement. This role may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses or commission payments.
