About the Role

Tokyo Electron is seeking a highly motivated Public Affairs Specialist - Semiconductor Industry to join our team in Washington, DC. As a key member of our Government Affairs department, you will play a critical role in advancing our company's growth in the dynamic semiconductor industry.

In this role, you will work closely with our Director of Government Affairs to develop and execute external advocacy strategies related to export control, technology, and national security policy, legislation, and regulations. You will also represent Tokyo Electron in meetings and interactions with Congress and the Administration to promote awareness of our company and disseminate our public policy positions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute external advocacy strategies related to export control, technology, and national security policy, legislation, and regulations.
  • Represent Tokyo Electron in meetings and interactions with Congress and the Administration to promote awareness of our company and disseminate our public policy positions.
  • Support engagement with key external stakeholders, including industry groups and trade associations, consultants, think tanks, industry peers and customers, and members of the diplomatic corps.
  • Maintain insights on relevant congressional hearings, executive branch reports, and think tank events and publications.
  • Analyze legislative and regulatory activities and assess their impact on Tokyo Electron.
  • Develop communications for internal audiences by writing talking points, memos, summaries, updates, and reports on public policy issues relevant to Tokyo Electron.
  • Assist in hosting executive visits to Washington, DC.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure consistent messaging and policy alignment.
  • Provide project management support to our DC office, including tracking budget, timelines, and deliverables for key projects.

Requirements:

  • A strong understanding of regulations, legislation, and policy proposals related to export controls (e.g., Export Administration Regulations).
  • Knowledge of export control regulations as they apply to the semiconductor industry.
  • General knowledge of policies and regulations governing semiconductor production equipment manufacturing companies.
  • Strong knowledge of legislative, regulatory, policy, and political processes.
  • Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of technology policy issues.
  • Japanese language skills a plus, but not required.
  • A clear reputation for ethical conduct.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to make complex concepts conversational.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Comfortable developing original and innovative solutions.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • A team player who can operate across different cultures, time zones, languages, political systems, and environments.
  • Demonstrates good interpersonal and listening skills.

Estimated Salary Range:$120,000-$150,000 per year.
