Job Summary

The Fire Protection Specialist position is responsible for designing and implementing automatic sprinkler systems, including fire pumps, tanks, wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of fire sprinkler codes and be able to perform hydraulic calculations with ease.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop automatic sprinkler systems, including fire pumps, tanks, and associated components.
  • Perform hydraulic calculations to ensure system efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Prepare submittal packages and corresponding correspondence to achieve design approval.
  • Participate in coordination meetings with contractors and design kick-off meetings.
  • Assist in the preparation of fabrication lists and requisitioning materials for job sites.
  • Perform field surveys to ensure design accuracy and assist field personnel with design-related installation issues.
  • Prepare and submit final job close-out documents after final acceptance testing.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technology, codes, and standards changes through periodic attendance at seminars or education/training sessions.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers in a professional manner.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • NICET II or NICET III certification and/or state-required certification required. Equivalent experience will be considered assuming the individual pursues NICET education.
Experience and Skills
  • 1-2 years' experience as a sprinkler designer required.
  • Construction experience, mechanical aptitude, basic and advanced math skills required.
Systems and Software Skills
  • Ability to operate a computer and use Microsoft Office required.
  • Familiarity with HydraCad and/or other CAD software preferred.
Other Requirements
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.
  • Must comply with Summit Fire & Security's Drug and Alcohol policy and Background screening requirements.
