Primary Purpose:
To execute evaluation responsibilities for designated campus(es) ensuring the delivery of services in accordance with State and Federal regulations.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master's Degree from an accredited institution
Certification from TEA
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience (preferably in special education)
1 year of preferred experience as a diagnostician.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Gather data reports to maintain a schedule for timely completion of re-evaluations.
- Develop an evaluation schedule to optimize time and meet required deadlines.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated evaluations within set timelines.
- Coordinate ARD/IEP schedules with campus personnel.
- Manage the schedule and notify the director when additional support is needed to meet deadlines.
- Maintain an adequate supply of assessment materials and place orders promptly.
- Assist other professionals as time allows.
- Communicate with building administrators regarding state assessment initiatives.
- Report any discrepancies in eligibility folder information to the director of special populations or supervisor.
- Provide documentation of services to the director upon request.
- Consult and collaborate with teachers to support intervention strategies and techniques.
- Utilize various assessment tools and methods as part of the multidisciplinary team to identify students with disabilities.
- Exhibit a high level of knowledge, understanding, and skill concerning the evaluation process.
- Recommend instructional strategies and resources to address individual needs.
- Compose compliant evaluation reports that adhere to State and Federal requirements.
- Provide training on campus as requested by the Principal or Director.
- Assist and train teachers in conducting criterion-referenced assessments as necessary.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of special education compliance requirements.
- Pursue professional development and training in areas needing enhancement.
- Communicate evaluation results and strategies with appropriate school personnel and parents (and students when suitable).
- Effectively interpret school services and guidelines when necessary.
- Collaborate with school professionals to support student success.
- Show sensitivity to the concerns of staff members and colleagues.
- Work cooperatively and constructively with other departments, staff, and parents.
- Provide consultative support to teachers upon request, including strategies and assistance with IEP goals/objectives, and offer follow-up as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
