About the Role

VNS Health is seeking a highly skilled Nurse Educator to join our team. As a Nurse Educator, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of healthcare through education and training.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement clinical education programs to foster high-quality care through evidence-based practice, performance improvement activities, and professional staff development.
  • Collaborate with education staff across the enterprise to develop an annual training calendar, ensuring a coordinated approach to ongoing programs.
  • Ensure clinical education programs align with the CMS Triple Aim framework, improving patient experience, population health, and reducing healthcare costs.
  • Identify and communicate protocols and standards of care for diverse patient populations, providing education intervention guidelines based on these needs.
  • Manage implementation of clinical staff development programs, ensuring development and delivery meet strategic objectives.
  • Ensure all clinical education programs comply with nursing and social work practice standards, state and federal regulations, and VNS Health policies and procedures.
  • Review program-specific educational program outcomes and evaluations to determine areas for improvement and recommend changes.
  • Present improvement strategies to department leadership and train new and current staff in VNS Health philosophy, policy, standards, procedures, and documentation.
  • Monitor and evaluate performance of newly hired staff and staff referred for remedial or additional training, counseling, disciplining, terminating, or extending probation as needed.
  • Design new and modify existing educational curriculum and training materials to ensure staff has current knowledge and competencies to meet program contractual and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct educational needs assessments in collaboration with operations staff to identify learning needs among staff, analyzing and utilizing assessment data to plan for program educational sessions.
  • Develop education programs, such as workshops and group learning activities, following up to ensure programs are effectively implemented.
  • Identify performance issues and develop performance improvement plans for tenured employees in collaboration with program management, evaluating competency and performance in conjunction with program management.
  • Review and evaluate clinical orientation and ongoing educational program outcomes to determine areas for improvement and recommend changes to current orientation programs.
  • Participate in the development of revised programs and materials, communicating ongoing e-learning opportunities and evaluating e-learning usage and effectiveness.
  • Analyze course evaluations to evaluate effectiveness of training sessions and implement improvements.
  • Participate in the development of annual clinical education strategic goals and objectives, utilizing resources and practicing sound fiscal responsibility to provide input for the development of the department budget.
  • Collaborate with the Quality department in the development of and implementation of education-related training programs, ensuring program content is presented in a manner that promotes learning and enables trainees to meet competency requirements.
  • Demonstrate services excellence and create and implement education and training programs centered on the goals and strategies of VNS Health.
Requirements
  • Licensure: Current license and registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or equivalent work experience required; Master's Degree in Nursing required.
  • Work Experience: Minimum four years' experience in a community-based or long-term home health setting, including at least two years with a primary focus on education and training, required. Medicare experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of healthcare delivery systems, patient care, care coordination, case management, and clinical processes required.
  • Experience assessing and designing clinical education programs preferred.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting in a teaching capacity with an understanding of adult education and learning processes preferred.
  • Effective oral and written communication, presentation, analytical, coaching, and organizational skills required.
  • Knowledge of computer applications required.
