Position Summary:

The Senior Systems Administrator plays a crucial role in the design, implementation, security, and management of our technology infrastructure, which primarily utilizes a Microsoft technology stack in the cloud, alongside cloud-based telephony and associated network devices, servers, applications, and services across all GreenWaste locations. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to independently resolve operational challenges and contribute to the enhancement, streamlining, and security of systems and data. A forward-thinking approach and a willingness to acquire new skills and technologies are essential attributes for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and manage both on-premise and Azure-based Microsoft technologies, including Windows Server, SQL Server, SharePoint, Exchange, Active Directory/Azure AD, Office 365, and related services.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and management of all related third-party applications, services, and infrastructure, including MFA, backup solutions, systems management, anti-virus/malware, firewalls, and more.
  • Develop and manage the enterprise LAN, WAN, and voice networks, collaborating with cloud service providers and other necessary parties.
  • Ensure the security of the technology infrastructure by applying industry best practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgraded IT infrastructure.
  • Take ownership of projects, solutions, and significant responsibilities within larger business initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the service desk and other teams to assist in troubleshooting, identify root causes, and provide escalation support as needed.
  • Serve as an escalation point for after-hours support.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong customer service orientation and excellent communication skills.
  • Robust analytical abilities.
  • Capability to present technical information in an understandable manner to non-technical audiences.
  • Extensive technical experience in a Windows server on-premise and Azure environment.
  • Significant technical experience in a moderately complex enterprise IP network utilizing SDWAN technologies.
  • Aptitude for investigating and resolving complex technical issues.
  • Experience in an ITSM environment is advantageous.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of systems administration experience within a Windows environment.
  • 4+ years of enterprise IP networking experience.
  • At least one of the following industry certifications is preferred:
    1. MCSE Windows Server
    2. CCNA or higher
    3. CompTIA Network+
  • Valid Class C driver's license.

Language Proficiency:

  • Proficient in English.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand in front of a computer for the duration of the work shift.
  • Ability to lift and carry at least 40 lbs.
  • Ability to climb a ladder or similar device.

Work Environment:

The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, with occasional on-call evening or weekend availability required. Exposure to outdoor weather conditions may occur.
