Director of Celebrations

Vista del Rio is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Celebrations to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and overseeing resident services, including planning and coordinating opportunities for residents that promote a level of health, wellbeing, engagement and growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, schedule, and conduct lifestyle programs that provide physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual opportunities for residents.
  • Plan appropriate programs for holidays and special events.
  • Recruit and develop additional resources for services to residents, including volunteers and community partners.
  • Advises and motivates residents regarding appropriate individual and group activities based on resident interests and opportunities for growth.
  • Prepare and organize a calendar of events, submit it to the Executive Director for final approval, and post and distribute the calendar.
  • Develop and print the community newsletter.
  • Provide leadership of lifestyle program and coordinate the community library.
  • Purchase and maintain equipment and supplies in accordance with budgetary guidelines.
  • Prepare preliminary draft of Celebrations Operating Budget.
  • Organize and supervise a volunteer staff.
  • Address resident groups and other groups on subjects of common interest.
  • Maintain a database and prepare reports on resident quality assurance assessments, participation, and satisfaction.
  • Supervise staff of Recreation and Event Coordinators across the multiple levels of service in a retirement community.
  • Participate in community in-services.
  • Demonstrate competence in Federal, State, and Local regulations, requirements for skilled nursing, assisted living, and/or independent living as applicable; ensure compliance.
  • Develop, facilitate, and analyze resident surveys to determine ongoing activities are in place that meet the resident interests.
  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate appropriate mixed group activities.
  • Develop and facilitate daily displays of activities on bulletin boards and/or kiosks in lobbies, elevators, dining rooms, and other resident and team member communication centers.
  • Maintain a robust public relations program in support of the activities programming and community relations.
  • Implement and facilitate a volunteer recognition program.
Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in Recreation, Therapeutic Recreation, Education, Gerontology, Social Work, or Adult Education.
  • Three to five years related experience.
  • Two years supervisory/management experience.
