Job Summary:

The Weekend Licensed Practical Nurse coordinates and provides nursing care for residents, supervises and guides clinical staff members, and ensures that residents receive the best possible care. Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct nursing care to residents, including administering medications, performing treatments, and documenting resident information.
  • Supervise and direct junior staff members and CNAs to ensure that residents receive high-quality care.
  • Participate in orientation and in-service training for personnel to ensure that staff members are equipped to provide excellent care.
  • Ensure that supplies are utilized economically and equipment is clean and maintained in a safe manner.
  • Report and record pertinent observations and reactions regarding residents.
  • Coordinate nursing care of residents when scheduled for therapy or procedures by other departments.
  • Interview applicants and recommend hires, participate in counseling, disciplinary action, and termination of staff, to the extent permitted by state practice act.
  • Supervise nursing unit, which includes scheduling and directing the nursing staff to the extent permitted by state practice act.
  • Assure that inventory and supplies are maintained on the unit and communicate need for housekeeping, maintenance, or dietary assistance.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of accredited LPN/LVN school of nursing.
  • Valid LPN/LVN license in the state employed.
  • Valid CPR certification.
  • One year experience in nursing preferred.
