Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Caseworker/Investigator in the Family Division. This role is responsible for enforcing court orders, investigating the background of delinquent youths, and providing supervision and counseling to assigned juvenile probationers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate assigned cases, including interviewing representatives of schools, enforcement agencies, and social service agencies.
  • Prepare pre-dispositional reports to assist the court in determining the most appropriate disposition of each case.
  • Recommend probationary terms, treatment, placement, support services, restitution, and/or other action.
  • Attend hearings of assigned juveniles and respond to questions of the court.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans for assigned youths designed to meet short and long-term rehabilitative goals.
  • Supervise juveniles placed on probation and ensure that conditions of probation are followed.
  • Provide guidance to parents of assigned juveniles and refer families to other agencies as needed.
  • Maintain regular contacts with professional and social service agencies that provide juveniles with counseling, testing, and guidance.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in social work, criminal justice, or other related field.
  • One year of casework experience in the criminal justice system, preferably dealing with delinquent youths.
  • A Michigan Vehicle Operator's License.
  • Certification by the Michigan Judicial Institute.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
