Job Summary

Deborah Heart and Lung Center is seeking a highly skilled Advanced Practice Nurse to oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of all aspects of care for patients with a ventricular assist device. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cardiovascular nursing and experience in managing high-risk patient populations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Heart Failure Medical Director to develop and implement care plans for patients with ventricular assist devices.
  • Coordinate and manage the patient care of this high-risk patient population throughout the continuum.
  • Optimize the patient's clinical, functional, and psychosocial status.
  • Coordinate VAD evaluation and provide communication link for coordination of care among the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Work with the Heart Failure Medical Director to orchestrate a performance improvement program that focuses on continually improving outcomes for these patients.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to cardiologists and nursing department through application of advanced clinical and experiential skills.
  • Facilitate participation in heart failure and mechanical circulatory support clinical research trials.
Requirements
  • Minimum 3-5 years nursing and CV post-surgical management background preferred.
  • Masters degree or greater from an ANA accredited School of Nursing.
  • New Jersey License as a Registered Nurse and Certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse through a specialty association, with prescriptive authority.
  • Current CDS and DEA required within 6-months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Maintain required continuing education credits.
  • Maintain current CPR and ACLS certification.
  • Completes required education for nurse practitioner re-certification of 30 hours of category 1 contact hours/year.
Work Environment

Bi-Weekly Hours: 80

Work Schedule: M - F
