Job Title: Senior Mechanic

Join the Foothill De Anza Community College District team as a Senior Mechanic and contribute to the maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment. This skilled position requires a high degree of independent judgment and creativity to select from alternative solutions, materials, supplies, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Use safety equipment, supplies, and procedures to perform job duties as required.
  • Respond to immediate safety and/or operational concerns for the purpose of taking appropriate action to resolve immediate safety issues and to maintain a functional educational environment.
  • Store and shelf equipment and other supplies in conformance with various local, state, federal, and district rules and regulations.
  • Direct visitors and safeguard district property.
  • Attend and participate in District and/or College provided training or information sessions.
  • Operate equipment such as District vehicles, electric carts, electric power lifts, forklift, etc.
  • Estimate cost of jobs and specify, order, and procure supplies, materials, tools, and equipment for the purpose of maintaining availability of required items and completing jobs efficiently.
  • Transport various items for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at job site.
  • Provide direction and training to apprentices as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
  • Completion of appropriate trade school courses or the equivalent.
  • Three years of experience in a comparable position.
  • Certification: Possession of an appropriate California operator's license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles.
Working Conditions:
  • Indoor, office environment and outdoor environment, with climate changes.
  • Hazardous conditions.
  • Exposure to dust particles, chemicals, and fumes.
  • Includes travel to conduct work.
