About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Licensed Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team at the Rescue Mission of Trenton. As a key member of our Behavioral Health Unit, you will play a vital role in providing counseling and supportive services to individuals struggling with addiction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess resident needs, strengths, and goals
  • Develop, implement, and review treatment plans under the supervision of the Director of Substance Abuse Counseling Services
  • Conduct group and individual counseling sessions
  • Develop resident aftercare plans
  • Participate in clinical supervision and provide input into policy development
  • Evaluate and recommend residents for Life Skills Program and other Rescue Mission services
  • Communicate with external organizations to arrange treatment and services
  • Provide case management and support to assigned cases
  • Supervise resident treatment activities and encourage participation in recovery support programs
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or a related field
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in substance abuse counseling
  • Licensed LCADC by the State of New Jersey
  • Knowledge of interviewing methods, case management principles, and substance abuse assessment instruments
  • Ability to work effectively with clients, peers, and external individuals
