About the Role
The Sales Associate is a key member of our team at Goodwill Industries of South Texas Inc. This role is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, assisting customers throughout the purchasing process, and maintaining a clean and organized store environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, helping them select merchandise, and offering alternative or additional products.
- Ensure the store has a neat and orderly appearance by stocking merchandise, returning items to their proper place, and performing custodial duties.
- Perform sale transactions using a point of sales system, counting cash, and providing correct change to customers.
- Relieve other sales associates during breaks, lunches, and emergencies.
- Courteously address customer complaints and refer to the Store Manager or Crew Leader as necessary.
- Maintain acceptable attendance, personal hygiene, and dress code standards.
- Adhere to and enforce safety and loss prevention procedures to prevent injury to personnel and damage to property, equipment, and inventory.
- Contribute to the fulfillment of department and agency objectives and goals.
- Comply with all department and agency policies, procedures, and regulations.
Requirements
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to multi-task, while being attentive to customers and remaining flexible to the needs of the business.
- Ability to work well with others in a respectful and collaborative work manner.
- Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative independent of direct supervision.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
- Ability to perform basic math skills.
- Flexible work schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One (1) year of cash register experience.
- Bilingual.
Physical Functions
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, kneel, stoop, bend, and crouch for extended periods.
- Weather conditions - variable - including extreme heat and cold, may work outside for extended periods and work in a humid and/or dusty environment.
- Able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. or more with 2-person assistance.
