Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and supervise the work of staff accountants, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Conduct tax services for smaller assignments, planning, directing, and completing the assignment.
  • Execute tax services under the direction of a supervisor on larger assignments.
  • Meet time budgets on engagements and lead staff accountants to employ methods that will accomplish objectives timely.
  • Display professional conduct, confidence, and ease in the presence of staff and client representatives.
Essential Functions
  • Perform diversified accounting and tax assignments under the direction of supervisor, manager, and shareholder.
  • Demonstrate competency in technical skills, work quality, and application of professional and firm standards.
  • Meet time constraints and client deadlines.
  • Participate in planning and scheduling client engagements.
  • Direct and instruct assistants in work to be performed and work paper review.
  • Prepare and index work papers to document procedures and conclusions.
  • Perform a broad range of accountant tasks to ensure efficient and effective participation of supervisors, managers, or shareholders.
  • Prepare other reports, projects, and duties as assigned.
  • Know, understand, and follow firm policies and procedures.
  • Possess technical knowledge sufficient to supervise staff accountants.
  • Begins acquiring skills necessary to develop quality client relationships and loyalty.
  • Assist with formal training programs.
  • Maintain university contacts and participate in on-campus and office visits to recruit new staff.
  • Groom business contacts and participate in local community organizations to expand marketing network.
  • Build productive relationships with managers, supervisors, and shareholders by keeping them informed about work progress.
  • Begins developing command of pertinent IRC sections and regulations.
Qualifications
  • Dedicated individual that values integrity, quality, and professionalism.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in public accounting, demonstrating a progression in complexity of accounting tasks and tax knowledge.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or master's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university.
  • Either holds a current and valid certified public accountant's license or is working toward obtaining the license by taking and passing the CPA exam.
  • Proficiency in use of computers and computer accounting / tax software programs.
