Job Summary:

CAMBA is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Family Support Specialist to join our Healthy Families Program team. As a Family Support Specialist, you will provide essential support to pregnant or newly parenting families living in Brooklyn communities. Your primary goal will be to help parents navigate the challenges of pregnancy and parenthood, while also identifying and addressing potential risks and stressors.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide home visiting services to pregnant or newly parenting families, focusing on parent-child interaction and overall family support.
Assess applicants for services and develop personalized service plans with client input.
Offer referrals to community resources and services to support participants.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date participant files.
Prepare and submit regular reports to supervisors.
Establish trusting relationships with families and assist in strengthening parent-child bonds.
Provide pre-natal and other health information to support participants.
Assist parents in creating a safe and nurturing home environment for their children.
Collaborate with participants to identify and address financial or emotional stressors.

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent required; 4 years of experience working with high-needs families preferred.
Experience working with culturally diverse populations and ability to establish trusting relationships.
Strong listening skills and ability to identify family strengths.
Knowledge of infant and child development and ability to provide strengths-based support.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations.
Bi-lingual Haitian-Creole/English preferred.
