Job Summary

The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Nurse Extern. As a Nurse Extern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced clinical environment, working alongside our experienced nursing staff to provide exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist patients with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and report any changes to the nursing staff
  • Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges
  • Prepare and assist patients with meals and snacks
  • Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in a nationally accredited Baccalaureate Nursing Program
  • Junior or senior year of nursing program
  • Valid BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • Three professional letters of recommendation from professors
  • Nursing Statement of purpose essay
Working Conditions

This is a part-time position, working approximately 20 hours per week. The Nurse Extern will work in a variety of clinical settings, including inpatient and outpatient units. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
