Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Electrical Engineer to join our Advanced Technology group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, evaluating, and supporting advanced fuel cell-based systems for power generation, carbon capture, hydrogen production, and energy storage.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design of engineering projects related to product improvement and development
  • Design, evaluate, and support equipment for power generation and conversion, including inverters and rectifiers
  • Develop electrical systems designs, including single-line and three-line drawings, wiring and interconnect drawings, electrical layouts and details, power distribution drawings, panel layout and design drawings, and arc flash safety and calculations
  • Prepare electrical engineering designs for fabrication, including AC distribution, DC distribution, and small system controller power systems
  • Ensure compliance with national electrical code and safety standards, including UL 1741, IEEE 1547, and NFPA 70 and 79
  • Develop electrical engineering calculations in support of electrical system designs, including electrical equipment sizing, feeder sizing, and equipment selection
  • Coordinate with disciplines to prepare and develop deliverables and ensure other disciplines' inputs are incorporated
  • Prepare documentation for engineering changes and product design verifications
  • Evaluate components and processes used in distributed generation systems
  • Write procedures, specifications, and preventative maintenance plans
  • Work closely with key electrical equipment suppliers to select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications
  • Perform fault current analysis and arc flash hazard of system designs, including inrush mitigation, circuit protection scenarios, and supplemental grid solutions
  • Configure and program electrical devices, such as variable frequency drives
  • Provide engineering support to service personnel
  • Ensure designs meet applicable codes, current regulations, and standards
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering or related field
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain
  • Minimum of 7 years of applicable commercial work experience with power systems focus on design, analysis, and implementation, clean energy, commercial electrical, facility support, or related work in a formal engineering environment
  • Demonstrable knowledge in power system analysis, design, and operation, including expertise in power flow and fault studies, arc flash and short circuit analysis, harmonics and transient studies, relay coordination and protection systems, electrical system modeling and simulation, and familiarity with industry standards
  • Knowledge of relevant codes, regulations, and standards, including NEC, NESC, OSHA, and industry trends, technologies, and best practices
  • AC/DC power distribution and conversion, renewable energy or utility equipment, cable, breaker, component sizing, power metering, VFD drives, UPS systems, LV/MV electrical systems design, power metering and controls, and ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, or schematics
