Operating Room Circulator

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operating Room Circulator to join our team in the Cardiovascular Surgery department. As an Operating Room Circulator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures, providing exceptional patient care, and collaborating with the surgical team to achieve optimal outcomes.
Responsibilities- Fulfill the role of Operating Room Circulator during cardiac surgical procedures, utilizing expertise in open-heart surgery to assist the surgical team by managing surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment, and anticipating the needs of the surgeon and surgical team.
- Ensure patient safety by maintaining strict adherence to sterile techniques and infection control protocols, consistently monitoring patient vital signs and responses to treatment, and intervening promptly in case of any complications or emergencies.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, communicating effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technicians, and other members of the surgical team to ensure seamless coordination and optimal patient outcomes.
- Coordinate with the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team, collaborating closely with ICU nurses and physicians to facilitate the smooth transition of patients from the operating room to the ICU following cardiac surgery, providing thorough handoff communication to ensure continuity of care and optimal patient outcomes.
- Provide support and assistance, assisting with patient positioning, draping, and preparation for surgery, as well as with wound closure and post-operative procedures as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation, recording all pertinent information related to patient care, surgical procedures, and medication administration accurately and in a timely manner.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to ongoing efforts to enhance patient safety, quality of care, and operational efficiency within the cardiac surgery department.
- Valid RN license in the state of practice.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience circulating in open-heart surgery.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
