The Olathe Public Schools is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Paraeducator - Center Based Resource to join our team. As a Paraeducator, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs in the regular classroom, resource room, or self-contained classroom.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in Supervision and Instruction: Provide support to students with special needs, assisting in the implementation of instructional plans, monitoring student behavior, and providing information to school personnel.
  • Classroom Support: Adapt and provide accommodations for classroom activities, assignments, and materials to ensure students with special needs can actively participate.
  • Student Support: Assist students with personal care needs, such as diaper changing, toilet training, and lifting equipment, to enable them to function in the school environment.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work with certified staff to provide necessary support and information related to student progress, as established in their Individual Education Program.
  • Behavioral Support: Implement behavioral plans for students as designed by the IEP team to assist in meeting special education students' needs and providing a consistent environment.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent; 48 hours of college credit or the ability to pass the Title 1 assessment test required for Title I school buildings.
  • Skills and Abilities: Ability to perform multiple tasks, adhere to safety practices, operate standard office equipment, prepare and maintain accurate records, and use district-approved crisis intervention techniques.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of instructional procedures and practices, age-appropriate student activities, safety practices and procedures, conflict resolution, and stages of child development/behavior.
Physical Requirements

The Paraeducator - Center Based Resource position requires the ability to perform physical demands, including running, walking, sitting, standing, lifting 80 lbs, carrying up to 55 lbs, pushing and/or pulling, climbing and balancing, reaching forward and overhead, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and fine finger dexterity.
