- Oversee automation personnel, financial resources, and project timelines to align with departmental and organizational objectives.
- Formulate and manage budgets for capital projects aimed at the development of new and updated automation systems.
- Coordinate and prioritize tasks among departmental resources and collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Innovate automation solutions that support production efficiency and improvement initiatives.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for automation solutions, including designs, purchase orders, preventive maintenance schedules, and control software.
- Devise cost-effective strategies for automating both new and existing manufacturing processes.
- Ensure that operational and preventive maintenance documentation is established for all newly implemented automation equipment.
- Foster a work environment that promotes cleanliness, comfort, and safety.
Qualifications:
The following qualifications are essential for success in this role:
- Proven track record in developing and leading a team of engineers focused on creating new automation technologies.
- Expertise in designing and constructing complex machinery to automate manual operations.
- Strong knowledge and experience in machine control technologies, including PLC programming.
- Proficient in the design, construction, and troubleshooting of intricate electrical systems.
- High mechanical aptitude with the ability to create and interpret detailed mechanical schematics.
- Familiarity with relevant software applications related to mechanical and electrical design as well as control systems.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing process equipment.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations pertaining to machinery and equipment.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
Education and Experience:
The following educational background and experience are required:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; a Master's degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing, with a preference for metal stamping, assembly, and laser welding.
- At least 5 years of experience in managing an engineering team focused on equipment development.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
This role necessitates the ability to:
- Lift up to 50 pounds and work in environments with elevated noise levels and vibrations.
- Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to safety protocols.
