Job Summary

Medix is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Licensed Clinical Social Worker to serve as the Manager of Social Services. This key leadership role is responsible for overseeing the Inpatient Social Workers and providing a systematic and coordinated approach to Social Services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Department Operations: Effectively administer department operations to ensure the on-going clinical deliveries of the Social Services Department.
  • LPS Designation: Maintain LPS Designation and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Fiscal Management: Perform fiscal management functions, including preparation of Annual Operating Budget and Capital Budget.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with patients' family and significant others to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Community Liaison: Develop a professional relationship with community schools of social work, supervising Social Work Interns and serving as liaison to Graduate Schools of Social Work.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain current and accurate department records.
  • Treatment Planning: Attend treatment planning meetings to discuss patients' status and care plans.
  • Collaboration: Communicate with Physicians and Insurance Companies regarding patients' progress.
  • Patient/Family Notification: Initiate and comply with the steps outlined in the Patient/Family notification Procedure when required to inform patients/families about the outcomes of care.
  • Quality Improvement: Work in conjunction with the Director of Quality Improvement to prioritize risks, review and analyze data, perform risk analysis, and quality improvement data.
  • Quality Management: Implement and maintain quality management activities necessary to effectively operate the Social Work Services department.
  • Policies and Procedures: Develop, implement, and periodically evaluate the Social Work Services Policies & Procedures manual to meet all licensing and accreditation standards.
  • Administrative and Personnel Policies: Consistently administer Administrative and Personnel Policies and standards of care in the department and with staff.
  • Policies and Procedures Development: Participate with other disciplines in the development of policies and procedures that affect the management of Clinical programs and quality patient care.
  • Clinical Consultation: Provide clinical consultation to the professional staff on request.
  • Committee Representation: Represent Social Services staff on various Committees.
  • Community Agency Liaison: Serve as organization's representative to various community agencies such as DCFS, DMH, DHS, and acts as liaison to develop and discuss resource options for referrals, placement, continuity of care etc.
  • New Hire Orientation: Conduct orientation for newly hired department staff, effectively evaluating, documenting, and communicating performance during 90-day introductory period.
  • Staff Performance Evaluation: Evaluate department staff performance and goals annually, implementing commendations, wage increases, disciplinary actions, and terminations in a timely manner.
  • Dependable Attendance: Demonstrate dependable and consistent attendance according to work schedule, punctual.
  • Recruitment and Selection: In collaboration with Human Resources, ensure department personnel are recruited and selected using the company's nondiscriminatory employment policies and procedures.
  • Meetings and Collaboration: Participate in Hospital Management, Professional Staff, and weekly meetings as needed.
Requirements
  • Education: Masters Degree In Social Work from an accredited school of Social Work.
  • Licensure: Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
  • Experience: Five (5) years of successful experience in a psychiatric setting providing individual, family, and group therapy.
Working Conditions
  • Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 8:00- 5:00 pm.
  • Pay Range: $95,000 BOE.
