Position Overview:
The Senior Civil Engineer plays a pivotal role in collaborating within a team to develop comprehensive civil engineering construction documentation.

Key Responsibilities:
The responsibilities associated with this role encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Creating land development construction drawings and documents that align with the client's development objectives under the guidance of the designated Project Manager.
  • Developing construction documents that may cover roadway design, utility design, and site design.
  • Assisting in the formulation of zoning, preliminary, and conceptual land development plans.
  • Conducting site grading design and drafting to achieve value engineering through earthwork analysis, ensuring site safety through appropriate design slopes and drainage considerations.
  • Executing soil erosion and sediment control design and drafting, which includes stability calculations, Best Management Practices, swale design, spillway design, and establishing construction sequences.
  • Calculating quantities necessary for construction cost estimations.
  • Researching and comprehending the standards and codes required by clients and jurisdictions through collaboration with relevant personnel (Project Manager, Professional Engineer, etc.) to efficiently develop the aforementioned designs.
  • Processing design plan documents through local, state, and federal approval agencies.

The Senior Civil Engineer will complete tasks as assigned by the immediate Project Manager and/or other management personnel. This role reports directly to the Project Manager but may also receive guidance from the Assistant Project Manager or other management staff.

Qualifications:
To be successful in this position, candidates should possess the following qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Microstation and/or AutoCAD drafting.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering is mandatory.
  • 5-10 years of experience in civil/site land planning and engineering.
  • Experience in the Maryland region is preferred but not essential.

This position is not available for remote or hybrid work arrangements.
