About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Primary Health Solutions in Oxford. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist patients with routine questions, resolve minor difficulties, and provide directions as authorized by the Provider.
  • Document all patient communication in patient charts, including Provider-directed instructions.
  • Support patients through education and information on community resources, such as classes, support groups, and pharmacy assistance programs.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families as directed by the Provider.
  • Assist patients in basic self-management goal setting, applying active listening and behavior modification principles.
  • Make appointments as needed and directed by the Provider.
Clinical Responsibilities
  • Assist with routine office examinations and procedures, including administering injections, medications, vaccinations, and blood draws, as directed by the Provider.
  • Document all procedures in patient charts and communicate results and orders to patients as directed by the Provider.
  • Serve as a liaison to pharmacies, handling new and refill prescriptions and following up with patients as needed.
  • Participate in patient and practice-level meetings.
  • Assist with patient/population communications, such as calls or letters to remind patients of needed preventive or chronic care steps.
Operations Responsibilities
  • Prepare, clean, and sterilize equipment and exam rooms according to standard safety and clinical protocols.
  • Properly handle the disposal of infectious/hazardous waste, following OSHA guidelines.
  • Inventories and requests supplies.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities, such as meetings, PDSA, pilots, data collection, and evaluation of practice or location performance metrics.
  • Support a shared goal model to achieve high-quality care that is patient and family-centered.
  • Participate in scheduled pre-visit planning/huddle process.
  • Facilitate coordination of care following hospital, ER utilization, or follow-up from specialty providers.
Requirements
  • Experience as a Medical Assistant or in a similar role in a primary care setting is required.
  • Active Medical Assistant Certification and/or accredited Medical Assistant program completion is preferred.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Working knowledge of NextGen or other EHR/EMR systems is required.
  • Ability to handle confidential information is required.
  • Problem-solving skills and adaptability are essential.
  • Attention to detail is required.
