Job Summary

The Admissions Counselor position at Louisiana State University is a key role in advancing the university's enrollment objectives. As a collaborative team member, you will articulate the university's message to prospective students and their families in various public settings. This position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with students, families, and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent the university at in-state and out-of-state recruitment events, including high school and college visits, college fairs, and receptions.
  • Build and cultivate key relationships with constituents, such as secondary school communities, community-based organizations, and alumni.
  • Perform detailed and personalized outreach to prospective students, including phone calling, emailing, and other communications as needed.
  • Assist in executing all large on-campus and off-campus recruitment and yield events.
  • Recruit and engage alumni/parents within volunteer programs to increase coverage in key recruitment territories.
  • Incorporate transfer recruitment strategy into assigned territory.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience working in a college admission setting or working with college-bound students, preferably in an admission and counseling environment.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • High level of fluency in Spanish, written and verbal, preferred.
  • Knowledge of best practices in student recruitment.
  • Strong team orientation, effective interpersonal skills, and superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to holistically evaluate applications.
  • Experience with CRM system and demonstrated ability to leverage technology.
  • Demonstrated commitment to data-driven decision-making, including effective analytical skills and proven results in achieving objectives and goals.
  • Commitment to diversity & inclusion.
Special Qualifications

Must possess a valid driver's license and background check, including a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) report. Must be willing to travel and work nights/weekends, especially during peak periods. This position and/or position's responsibilities require work directly with minors. National Sex Offender Registry check required.
