Job Summary

MaineHealth is seeking a skilled Patient Access Apprentice to join their team at Maine Medical Center Biddeford/Sanford. This role will provide exceptional customer service and support the Admitting Department in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

About the Role

This position is the initial point of contact for patients, requiring strong communication and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurate patient registration, insurance verification, and medical necessity validation. They will also collect amounts due from patients, enter orders, and ensure an efficient flow of clinical, administrative, and clerical tasks.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide exceptional customer service to patients and families
* Accurately register patients and verify insurance information
* Validate medical necessity and collect amounts due from patients
* Enter orders and ensure efficient workflow
* Assist with accommodations for patients with special needs

Requirements

* High school graduate preferred
* Previous clerical healthcare experience preferred
* Previous customer service experience required
* Must complete a formal medical terminology course and customer service training within 1 year after hire
