Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain all aspects of the water distribution system, including treatment and blending facilities, pumping stations, and transmission equipment.
  • Monitor trends and pull water samples to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate the work of assigned staff to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve system efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
Requirements
  • Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, supplemented by college-level coursework in water science or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience working in water distribution, potable water production, water treatment, storage, transmission, or a related field.
  • Possession of a valid California Driver's License and a valid Grade D3 Water Distribution Operator Certificate.
  • Possession of, or successful acquisition within 12 months of appointment, a valid Grade D4 Water Distribution Operator Certificate.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with digital control (SCADA) equipment and water treatment processes.
  • Knowledge of water quality regulations and standards.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate with stakeholders.
