About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Experimental Design and Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at Supernal. As a key member of our Test, Evaluation, and Certification (TEC) Team, you will be responsible for supporting all designs and leading the manufacturing portion of our eVTOL system development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop efficient manufacturing solutions and processes to support the test and prototype development of our eVTOL system.
  • Lead the manufacturing team and provide manufacturing oversight, giving feedback to leadership on technical approaches, products, and processes.
  • Assist in creating standard processes and procedures within the field while working with the design team throughout the conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design.
  • Collaborate with all technical development teams to ensure seamless integration of manufacturing and design efforts.
  • Run test fixture manufacturing activities, prototype manufacturing activities, and provide technical guidance and oversight to suppliers as well as design support.
  • Craft CNC machining, additive manufacturing, and sheet metal components, and assist TEC Leadership in prioritizing efforts based on manufacturing timelines.
  • Document manufacturing process and work instructions, and support aircraft installation and integration, including writing and releasing engineering orders and functional test procedures required for flight test and production aircraft.
  • Prepare and communicate design and technical materials to management and team members, and partner with all other groups within the TEC organization to support test execution.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or related engineering field required; Master's or Ph.D. degree preferred.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience with manufacturing or design of an aerospace system/product development.
  • Experience leading a technical team, developing and implementing new processes and procedures, and working with supplier management and evaluation in a manufacturing capacity.
  • Experience with new aircraft development, prototyping, certification, and production, as well as knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T, certification rules and processes, including ARP 4754A, ARP 4761, DO-160.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, proactive delivery of communication and follow-up, and excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraints, and proficiency with Excel VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and MS Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Aerospace Test and Evaluation, testing one or more of the following: Avionics, Aircraft Powertrain, Energy Storage Systems, Flight Controls, Aircraft Performance, Airframe Structures.
  • Experience leading a team of technical personnel, and CATIA experience.
