Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Residence Life Coordinator to join our team at Appalachian State University. This is a full-time position that will play a critical role in supporting the academic and personal success of our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with students to resolve first and second-time University Housing and Code of Conduct violations.
  • Assist with the evaluation, investigation, and adjudication of complaints and allegations of violations of the Student Code of Conduct and Housing Standards.
  • Maintain the student case management process, including tracking overdue and pending cases and coordinating case-loads follow-up with students and staff.
  • Clearly communicate, interpret, and enforce department and university policies to staff and students.
  • Ensure student staff members are appropriately confronting and documenting behavior issues and concerns, providing training where needed.
  • Assist staff with urgent student case needs.
  • Serve as a resource or referral for information concerning University life.
  • Support assessment activities for the department related to student discipline/wellness; and behavioral trends, as part of broader divisional goals in support of student learning, persistence, and retention.
  • Produce weekly conduct and care breakdown reports to stakeholders.
  • Produce end of term(s) and annual report.
  • Provide weekly audit of conduct system to identify any delayed cases.
  • Create, edit, update, and review on-call, crisis response, and other documents under the direction of the Senior Associate Director of Residence Life.
  • Coordinate on-call scheduling for Residence Life Staff.
Requirements
  • Master's degree earned by start date.
  • One to three years of experience working in college housing or in crisis and case management experience. Two years of GA experience is equivalent to one year full-time.
  • Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree in College Student Development, Student Affairs, Higher Education, Counseling, or related field, full-time experience working in college housing, experience working with Maxient and/or StarRez software, and crisis and case management experience.
What We Offer

This is a live-in position, meaning staff members are provided a furnished apartment, meal plan, and upgraded reserved parking space. When available and approved, Coordinators receive departmental support for professional involvement and travel.
