Banquet Captain

The Banquet Captain is a key member of the Biltmore team, responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of banquet events within the hotel. This role requires exceptional leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced and detail-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Coordinate and supervise banquet staff in preparation and execution of events.
- Identify specific event requirements and assign roles to staff, providing coaching and training as needed.
- Ensure the maintenance and cleanliness of all guest and non-guest areas.
- Review Banquet Event Orders (BEO) and place orders for related products, arrange setup of tables and chairs, and make arrangements for food and beverage items.
- Maintain continuous guest contact to ensure expectations are met and exceeded.
- Schedule staff based on event type, skills required, and availability.
- Communicate effectively with staff and culinary teams to ensure successful event execution.
- Propose and execute creative ideas for event setup and presentation.
- Audit Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for effectiveness and make process improvements as needed.
- Conduct monthly service standards training and inform the Banquet Manager of any training or personnel performance concerns.
- High School Diploma or equivalent; degree in Hospitality Management or related field preferred.
- Two years of related banquet experience in an upscale or luxury hotel and/or restaurant/resort is highly desirable.
- Outstanding communication and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Knowledge of food and beverage procedures and safety standards.
- Ability to multitask and thrive in fast-paced and changing environments.
- Flexibility to work evening, weekends, and holidays as required for events.
- Standing and walking for long periods of time, sometimes up to 10 hours, including walking up and down flights of stairs.
- Frequent lifting and carrying of objects up to 20 pounds.
