Career and Educational Navigator

Job Summary:

The Career and Educational Navigator will provide educational navigation services to current and prospective students and families, WWCC staff, and outside entities. This position will assist with navigating students through advising and registration processes, enhancing retention and completion results of students on the Clarkston Campus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely and accurate educational information for students on degrees, certificates, courses, college policies, and procedures.
  • Assess students' academic and career development and help identify appropriate degree pathways that match their educational and career goals.
  • Assist students in developing a plan to meet realistic and attainable academic and career goals.
  • Monitor academic progress of students; provide academic early alert intervention strategies.
  • Serve as an advocate for students.
  • Track student progress and implement retention and completion strategies.
  • Provide follow-up services for students referred by faculty members to identify and implement retention and completion strategies.
  • Provide drop-in educational planning, career exploration, and referral services for students coming to Clarkston's Student Success Center department.
  • Triage students in crisis and make appropriate referrals.

Marketing and Outreach:

  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote the college and its programs.
  • Organize outreach efforts to engage with the community and promote the college's services.
  • Build strong working relationships with community partners to promote the college's programs and services.
  • Disseminate information on programs and services to students, college staff, and the community.

Coordination and Communication:

  • Participate in advisory, college, community, and agency meetings as needed.
  • Assist with additional retention services in coordination with other departments on campus.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with the Office of Admissions and Registration, the Business Office, and other college personnel.
  • Attend meetings and work as part of the Student Success Center team.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in social or behavioral science or closely related field, OR Associate's Degree AND two years of experience working with at-risk populations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think critically and creatively to identify and implement strategies and initiatives focused on student success, marketing, and outreach.

Benefits:

  • Annual salary range for initial placement based on the represented exempt salary schedule: $56,650-$64,094.
  • Excellent benefit program including paid sick leave, paid vacation leave, medical, dental, life, and long-term disability insurance, retirement, and two optional deferred compensation programs.
