Position Overview
This role is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), which provides student loan repayment assistance.

Applicants must fulfill specific eligibility criteria in line with VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within the designated timeframe.

Approval of the program, including the award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility duration (one to five years), will be determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office following a thorough review of the EDRP application.

Job Duties

Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Compensation:
Competitive salary, annual performance bonuses, and regular salary increases.
Paid Time Off:
50-55 days of paid time off annually, including 26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays, and potential additional days for Continuing Medical Education (CME).

Contractual Obligations:
No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restrictions on moonlighting.
Key Responsibilities:
The selected physician will provide clinical services at the Veterans Affairs Central California Health Care System (VACCHCS) and lead their Patient-Aligned Care Team (PACT). Responsibilities include:
  • Timely documentation in the electronic health record (CPRS).
  • Participation in quality assurance and process improvement initiatives.
  • Engagement in Medical Staff activities, including committee participation.
  • Management of a patient panel's healthcare, focusing on preventive, acute, and chronic disease management.
  • Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive and continuous care to Veterans.
Requirements:
U.S. Citizenship is required; non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited.

All applicants selected for VA employment in designated testing positions must undergo urinalysis for illegal drug screening prior to appointment.

Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory.

Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).

Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the basic requirements, including:
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Degree of Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Current, unrestricted medical license.
  • Completion of residency training in an accredited core specialty program.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear speech, and manual dexterity. The role may involve long periods of walking, standing, and sitting, as well as transferring patients and objects.

Incumbents may be exposed to infectious patients and contaminated materials, necessitating the use of protective clothing in certain situations.
