Job Summary

Denver Health is seeking a highly skilled EMT-Basic Paramedic to join our team. As a key member of our Paramedic Division, you will be responsible for providing emergency medical services to patients in need.

Key Responsibilities
  • Basic Life Support: Provide basic life support procedures in accordance with current standards and protocols, including BLS procedures and demonstrating a working knowledge of the Denver Metropolitan EMT-Basic Protocols.
  • General Operations: Provide patient care during Basic Life Support inter-facility patient transfers, assist RN with patient care during Critical Care Transport inter-facility patient transfers, and perform assessment of scene to determine the need for auxiliary services such as fire and police department.
  • Documentation: Complete patient and daily activity forms, submit trip reports, and maintain accurate medico-legal documentation.
  • Emergency Vehicle Operations: Maintain Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) Certification, operate emergency vehicles safely, and use emergency equipment in accordance with State and municipal laws and regulations.
  • Evaluation: Evaluate patient condition, establish priorities for care, and perform full and appropriate assessments.
  • Safety: Follow safety, environmental, and infection control standards, approach scenes and patients in a safe manner, and use appropriate and low-impact means of restraint.
  • Equipment and Supplies: Ensure readiness of ambulance, check mechanical equipment, and maintain a safe and aesthetically clean working environment.
  • Support Functions: Provide support functions for the Paramedic Division, including checking VST clipboard and duty board, assisting with moving ambulances, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Work Experience: One year of healthcare and/or ambulance experience preferred.
  • Licenses: Current Colorado Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B) Certificate, IV Certification, and Valid Colorado Class R Driver's License required.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of emergency treatment and safety procedures, working knowledge of the Denver Metropolitan EMT-Basic Protocols, and ability to speak with a clear, articulate voice over the radio.
