Position Overview

The Registered Dietitian Nutritionist plays a vital role in delivering exceptional nutrition care and education to patients and their families within the Mount Sinai Health System.

Key Responsibilities
  • Nutrition Assessment: Conduct thorough evaluations of patients' nutritional status and recommend tailored nutrition therapy based on individual needs.
  • Patient Counseling: Provide comprehensive nutrition counseling to patients and their families, ensuring they understand their dietary requirements.
  • Care Coordination: Collaborate with the interdisciplinary health care team to support patient-focused care within assigned units.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of nutritional assessments and care plans in accordance with established policies.
  • Nutrition Support: Assess the necessity for enteral and parenteral nutrition support, offering recommendations as required.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Actively participate in interdisciplinary rounds to discuss patient care strategies.
  • Communication: Foster effective communication with health team members to ensure cohesive patient care.
  • Discharge Planning: Assist in the discharge planning process to ensure continuity of care.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience, excluding dietetic internship.
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) credential from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
Additional Skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
