Position: HVAC Technician

Overview:

The HVAC Technician will execute preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance on commercial and industrial HVAC systems in a safe and efficient manner. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and servicing a variety of HVAC equipment, including air conditioning units, air handling units, heat pumps, variable air volume systems, direct digital controls, and ventilation systems. The technician will conduct tests and analyze data to ensure optimal equipment performance. Experience with chillers, boilers, and kitchen equipment is advantageous. Additional responsibilities involve evaluating systems, providing recommendations, maintaining a clean work environment, and performing other tasks as assigned by the Facility Maintenance Manager, all while adhering to safety and health regulations. The technician will be provided with a company vehicle and tools, traveling to various customer sites to service commercial properties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts efficient maintenance of HVACR equipment in accordance with established standards. Reads and comprehends operational sequences, control schematics, blueprints, and service manuals to effectively perform daily tasks. Responsible for maintaining, installing, troubleshooting, and repairing HVAC systems, including monitoring building management systems and ensuring refrigerant system efficiency.
  • Keeps accurate and timely logs of equipment operations, maintenance manuals, and inventory of necessary supplies. Ensures tools and equipment are maintained in safe working order and that work areas are kept clean. Efficiently manages inventory and orders supplies for maintenance and repairs.
  • Adheres to safety protocols and utilizes personal protective equipment as required. Familiar with emergency equipment locations and safely operates hand and power tools for maintenance and repair tasks. Complies with policies regarding hazardous materials.
  • Diagnoses HVACR system issues and communicates findings promptly. Takes corrective actions as necessary and documents all service reports accurately, ensuring client satisfaction before closing reports.
  • Collaborates with other technicians on major repairs and maintenance tasks. Works closely with planners and schedulers to optimize preventative maintenance programs. Performs additional duties as assigned.
  • Participates in training sessions and seminars as assigned. Submits timesheets and paperwork accurately and on time. Communicates effectively to assess needs and is available for on-call emergency work.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma with a certified 2-year HVAC technical certificate or state-approved HVAC license.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial/commercial HVAC systems.
  • Possession of an EPA Universal Refrigeration License is required.
