Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Special Education Liaison to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations governing special education, as well as providing support to students with out of district placements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations governing special education.
  • Liaison to ensure proper implementation of individualized educational plans (IEPs) for students placed outside the district.
  • Submit necessary reports and perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services and Special Education.
  • Engage in short and long-term planning, establishing priorities, and promoting positive relationships between placement locations and our district.
  • Attend statewide, regional, and national meetings to stay up-to-date on new developments, regulations, and mandates pertinent to special education students.
  • Serve on district-wide committees as necessary.
  • Maintain a central registry for all out of district student placements and assist with the completion of state and federal reports.
  • Assist in the development of procedures to implement policies relating to special education.
  • Assist in the writing of federal, state, and local grant proposals as necessary.
  • Coordinate and facilitate PPTs and program monitoring for all out of district placed students.

Requirements:
  • Masters Degree in Special Education or a related service provider (school psychologist, social worker, SLP, etc).
  • State of Connecticut Certification in Special Education or related services.

Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed in a standard office environment with occasional travel to district locations and meetings.
