Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team at Jefferson Health. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians with patient assessments, examinations, and treatments.
  • Manage patient flow and coordinate diagnostic procedures, such as EKGs, phlebotomy, and injections.
  • Perform and document vital signs, clinical care quality measures, and medical history information.
  • Maintain and order supplies for the medical area, ensuring a smooth operation.
  • Interact with patients, visitors, and staff in a professional and courteous manner, adhering to Jefferson's values.
  • Escort patients to exam rooms and ensure proper identification.
  • Remain proficient and knowledgeable regarding information technology systems and documentation requirements.
  • Assist with examinations, diagnostic procedures, and may perform EKG and venipuncture/injections in the office.
  • Adhere to HIPAA privacy and security requirements.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical Assistant certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 3 months of hire.
  • For NJ Only: Graduate of an accredited post-secondary medical assisting education program with a minimum of 600 hours of instruction and training in intramuscular and subcutaneous injections.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a physician office or other healthcare setting.
Conditions of Employment

Covid Vaccination is a requirement for employment at Jefferson Health for employees working at Jefferson's clinical entities or at the University. If you are not currently vaccinated, you will be required to receive the vaccination prior to hire date if you are offered employment, unless you request and receive an approved medical or religious exemption from Jefferson.

Since this position will require the selected candidate to engage in regular contact with children, you will be required to meet the requirements of the Child Protective Services Act, including the Pennsylvania State Police criminal background check, the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare child abuse criminal background clearance, and an FBI finger print based federal criminal records check. The selected candidate will not be allowed to commence working until all three are completed satisfactorily.
