We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our team at DCH Health System. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting our pharmacists in providing medication to patients and ensuring the smooth operation of our pharmacy department.
Key Responsibilities- Assist pharmacists in preparing and delivering medication to patients
- Process and deliver medication to all patient care areas in a timely and accurate manner
- Accurately label dispensed medications with correct expiration dates and other auxiliary labels
- Execute time management skills to triage daily tasks and follow assigned workflows
- Document delivery of medication via designated medication tracking software
- Answer incoming phone calls and address medication verification, preparation, or delivery concerns
- Maintain accurate inventory counts and participate in efficient use of supplies and resources
- Notify Purchasing Team or supervising pharmacist when medication stock and supplies are critically low
- Perform daily or monthly checks of pharmacy stock areas for removal of outdated medication
- Function as a preceptor to train new Pharmacy Technicians
- Participate in department performance improvement activities and attend training opportunities
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Registered as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of Alabama
- Pharmacy Technician Certification awarded by a recognized certification group
- Ability to operate a computer, calculator, and telephone
- Ability to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English
This role requires working in a fast-paced pharmacy environment with exposure to contaminants, hazardous conditions, and close physical proximity to others. The successful candidate must be able to wear common protective or safety equipment and work effectively in a team environment.
Physical DemandsThis role requires light work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. The successful candidate must be able to perform the duties with or without reasonable accommodation and tolerate prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing.
Other Job FactorsThe successful candidate must be pleasant with others on the job, displaying a good-natured, cooperative attitude. They must be reliable, responsible, and dependable, and fulfill obligations. They must be careful about detail and be thorough in completing work tasks.
