Position Overview

The Senior Radiologic Technologist plays a crucial role in utilizing ionizing radiation to produce diagnostic imaging radiographs of various anatomical regions, adhering to established protocols and practices for all age demographics. This position also involves operating the Medtronic Stealth Navigation System.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct high-quality diagnostic imaging procedures while applying radiation protection principles to minimize patient exposure.
  • Gather patient history, elucidate routine procedures, and address any patient inquiries.
  • Deliver appropriate patient care in line with the Radiology Gold Service Excellence standards to ensure successful procedure completion.
  • Exhibit professional judgment in service delivery, adhering to the ARRT Code of Conduct.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to enhance service quality and uphold customer service standards.

Essential Duties
  • Maintain knowledge of universal precautions and specific protocols established by the University of Michigan Health System.
  • Respond adeptly to patients' changing physical conditions, including airway/breathing changes, heart rate fluctuations, and acute alterations in consciousness.
  • Communicate effectively with patients to gather vital clinical information, instruct them, alleviate anxiety, and secure cooperation during procedures.
  • Identify and administer appropriate contrast media in accordance with departmental protocols while maintaining aseptic techniques.
  • Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Adapt to dynamic environments, including flexible schedules and emergency conditions.
  • Function efficiently in fast-paced and stressful situations.
  • Maintain current ARRT registration and fulfill other duties as required.

Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited radiologic technology program or equivalent education and experience.
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology is mandatory.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with critical thinking and professionalism.
  • Physical capability to assist and transfer patients safely, as well as operate radiology equipment.
  • Dependability and flexibility to adjust schedules as needed.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with PACS and proficient computer skills.
  • Background in trauma settings and familiarity with various imaging equipment.
  • CPR certification and ability to maintain composure in high-pressure environments.

Work Environment

This position is part of a collaborative team dedicated to providing exceptional patient care within the University of Michigan Health System. The role may involve various work modes, subject to departmental discretion and annual review.
